Collaboration
You are welcome to read and discuss papers with other students before writing your reading journals, but the work you submit must reflect your own thinking about the paper. You are welcome to include points made by others as part of your journal, provided you include appropriate citation and these outside contributions do not replace your own judgements of the work. The use of AI tools for writing reading journals is not permitted.
Submitting
Submit your reading journal to the appropriate assignment on Gradescope. Your written journal should be uploaded as a plain text file or a PDF. Word documents and other rich text formats (other than PDF) will not be accepted.

After reading the assigned paper, write a reading journal that addresses each of the elements below. Please organize your response into the six sections below to make it easier to identify each of the required elements.

Problem
What problem does this work address and why is it important?
Approach
How did the authors solve the problem they identified? You do not need to describe the entire approach, but your response should describe what you believe are the key elements of the authors’ approach.
Outcomes
How successful were the authors in addressing the problem they identified? Include at least three strengths or weaknesses you see in the work, its potential impact, or its evaluation.
Clarification Question(s)
Was anything in this paper unclear or confusing? Include at least one question that, if answered, would help you better understand this work.
Interesting Points
List at least two things you find interesting about this work. These can be claims from the paper, techniques the authors used, evaluation strategies, or anything else related to the work.
Discussion Point(s)
Include one additional point related to this paper that you would like to discuss. Your discussion point should focus on the problem, approach, evaluation, or impact of the paper.

To receive full credit, your journal should show significant engagement with the paper and its contributions. Responses should be clear, organized, and should be generally free from spelling and grammar issues. There is no specific requirement for the length of your responses.
