I am an assistant professor at Grinnell College in the Department of Computer Science. I completed my PhD at the University of Massachusetts Amherst advised by Emery Berger in the PLASMA Lab, where my dissertation work was supported by a Google Ph.D. Fellowship. My research interests include software performance, security, and reliability, with an emphasis on probabilistic and statistical techniques. The computer science department has a formal process for matching advisors with new majors. This process runs each spring semester, and is announced via email. You will have an opportunity to express preferences for advisors, but I do not take advisees outside of this process.
Yes. To request a letter of recommendation, please complete this Recommendation Request Form. Please submit this form at least two weeks before letters are due. Please do not list me as a letter writer on any applications until you hear from me after submitting the form; I will respond within 72 hours. You only need to submit this form one time for each type of program you are applying to. If you have an urgent request that is past the two-week deadline, please send an email and I will do my best to help.
